Adult vaccine recommendations are updated annually by the CDC. See attachment below for short summary of recommended adult vaccinations.
The more recent changes include annual influenza vaccine for all individuals greater than 6 months age.We have preordered a large supply for the Fall and should not have any difficulty vaccinating all interested patients.
Zostavax (shingles vaccine) is being recommended for all adults greater than 60.Unfortunately it is a frozen vaccine and not currently available at our office however we are working on a solution to that issue. It is available at a large number of local pharmacies .
Tdap which covers tetanus, diptheria and pertussis is now being considered in most cases a replacement for the traditional Td vaccine because of a remergence of pertussis (Whooping cough) . It is recommended for all patients less that 65 and for all patients greater than 65 which have contacts with infant or young children.
